Dubai International Airport is located in the Al Garhoud district, about 4km from Dubai city centre. The airport is easily accessible by Taxi or Metro.

There are three terminals at Dubai Airport: Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. Terminal 1 is used for flights operated by Emirates, Flydubai and Qantas. Terminal 2 is used by over 80 airlines including Air India, Delta and Virgin Atlantic. Terminal 3 is used by all other airlines.

The state-of-the-art passenger terminal building opened in 2008 and cost AED 18 billion to construct. The development project also included the construction of a new runway (Runway 12R/30L) and associated taxiways, aprons and air traffic control towers.

The building itself covers an area of 1.2 million square metres – making it one of the largest buildings in the world by floor space. It can accommodate up to 43 million passengers per year and has a capacity of up to 19,000 passengers during peak periods.

The terminal is made up of three concourses (Concourse A, B and C). Concourse A is exclusively used by Emirates Airline, while flydubai uses both Concourse B and C. The facility also has over 100 check-in counters, over 200 self-service check-in kiosks and over 80 security screening lanes.

Here’s what you need to know about Dubai Airport:
