If you’re planning a trip to Rome, you’ll want to visit some of its most famous landmarks, including the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. These three ancient sites are located adjacent to each other on the south side of Rome and are collectively known as the archaeological park of the Colosseum Area.
Getting to the Colosseum Area is easy, whether you’re arriving by plane, train, or bus.
If you’re flying into Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO), you can take a train from the airport to Termini Station, Rome’s main train station. From there, it’s a short walk to the Colosseum Area. If you don’t feel like walking, you can take a bus or taxi from Termini Station.
If you’re arriving by train at Termini Station, you can simply walk to the Colosseum Area. It will take about 10 minutes. You can also take a bus or taxi from the train station.
There are several bus lines that stop at or near the Colosseum Area, including buses 75 and 81. If you take bus 75, get off at the Piazza Venezia stop; if you take bus 81, get off at either the Largo Corso Vittorio Emanuele II or Cavour stops.
