Welcome to the Wendo Thanksgiving Hike! This is an annual event that takes place on Thanksgiving Day in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains. The hike will start at the trailhead and go up to the summit of Mt. Whitney, the tallest mountain in the contiguous United States. This is a strenuous hike that will take approximately 10 hours to complete, so be sure to come prepared with plenty of food and water. The views from the top of Mt. Whitney are truly breathtaking, and it’s an experience you won’t soon forget. So come on out and join us for this memorable Thanksgiving hike!

The Wendo Thanksgiving Hike is a tradition that began in 2006 when a group of friends decided to hike up Mt. Washington on Thanksgiving weekend. Since then, the hike has grown in popularity, with over 100 people attending last year.
This year’s hike will be led by experienced hikers who know the route well. The group will meet at the base of Mt. Washington at 9:00am and start hiking around 9:30am. The hike will take approximately 4 hours to complete, with a break for lunch about halfway through.
After reaching the summit, hikers can enjoy views of the Presidential Range, before beginning the descent back down the mountain. The group is expected to return to the base around 1:30pm.

Where: Wenatchee National Forest
The Wenatchee National Forest is a U.S. National Forest located in central Washington state, approximately 100 miles (160 km) east of Seattle. It is named after the Wenatchi Native Americans who once inhabited the area. It is the largest of the four National Forests in Washington and consists of 1.4 million acres (5,700 km2) of land, including parts of the Okanogan-Wenatchee, Chelan and Entiat national forests. The forest is divided into two sections: the North Cascades and the South Cascades.
The North Cascades section encompasses the northern half of the Cascade Range, including parts of the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie and Okanogan-Wenatchee national forests. The South Cascades section covers the southern half of the Cascade Range, including parts of the Gifford Pinchot and Wenatchee national forests. There are four ranger districts within the Wenatchee National Forest: Cascade River, Chelan,Entiat and Methow Valley.
The Wenatchee National Forest offers a wide variety of recreation opportunities year-round. In the summer months, hikers and mountain bikers can enjoy over 800 miles (1,300 km) of trails, including 190 miles (310 km) of the Pacific Crest Trail. The forest also has several camping areas and picnic sites. For those looking for a more challenging experience, the Wenatchee National Forest also offers backpacking, rock climbing and tubing opportunities.
In the winter months, the Forest becomes a playground for snowshoers, cross-country skiers and snowmobilers. The Forest has several ski areas, including Stevens Pass Ski Area and Mission Ridge Ski Area. In addition, there are over 200 miles (320 km) of groomed snowmobile trails available for exploring.

This year, the hike will take place on Saturday, November 19th. We’ll meet at 9:00am at the trailhead, which is located just off of Highway 20. The hike will take us through the beautiful Wendo Valley, and we’ll end up at the summit of Mount Si.

The hike will take place on Thanksgiving Day, November 24th, 2022. Participants will meet at the Wendo Trailhead at 9:00am and begin the hike at 9:30am sharp. The hike will last approximately 4 hours, with plenty of stops along the way to enjoy the scenery and take photos.
The route will take hikers through some of the most beautiful parts of the North Cascades, including old-growth forests, alpine meadows, and glaciers. Along the way, hikers will have the opportunity to see some amazing wildlife, including eagles, deer, and bears.
At the end of the hike, participants will be treated to a delicious Thanksgiving feast prepared by our experienced guides. This is a great opportunity to relax and recharge after a fun day on the trail.
